ingredients

  • 8 slices of The Rustik Oven Sourdough Bread
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese
  • 1 ¾ cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 6 eggs
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 3 cups milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ cup crushed pecans
  • Syrup to drizzle

directions

  1. To prepare the filling, mix together cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice and a pinch of salt.
  2. Then add pumpkin puree and mix until smooth.
  3. To make the custard, whisk eggs and mix in sugar, pumpkin pie spice and a pinch of salt.
  4. Gradually add the milk and vanilla, stirring until well combined.
  5. Dunk slices of bread into custard mixture to coat each side and then cook in a pan over medium heat, or until golden brown on each side.
  6. Spread filling between two slices of bread.
  7. Drizzle syrup and sprinkle crushed pecans on top.
